‘What do you carry in your kit?’ – This is one the questions, most frequently asked by clients.
Since around 1996, I have been an intrepid explorer in the world of makeup, discovering hundreds of beautiful products that really delivered amazing results and helped me with whatever my skin was going through at the time. All of the information and product experience I have gathered over the years, bring me to what I am now very proud to carry in my professional makeup kit.
I don’t consider myself to be a makeup snob, but I really do believe that some of the finest makeup products are found in the elite, high-end brands and I find myself continuously choosing these brands over others. The investment I have made and continue to make into my kit is high, owing to the amount of quality makeup I carry. From my kit, you can enjoy professional luxury brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, Hourglass, Sonia Roselli Beauty, By Terry, Laura Mercier, Chanel, YSL, Kevyn Aucoin, Becca, NARS, Too Faced Cosmetics, Viseart, Natasha Denona and so many more.
I only use products which I have experienced a superior level of wear time from. Before anything else, bridal makeup has to be long-lasting. It is such an emotional day with the threat of tears always on high alert. The weather conditions also need to be considered – Summer Brides may be exposed to high heat and humidity or the occasional downpour of rain and this can all be within the same day (I’m sure you are all familiar with the great Scottish Summer!)
It’s something that’s really important to me too – I have never enjoyed the feeling of heavy makeup on my skin and so I choose to use products that feel light and airy. This is particularly true of the foundations I use, clients often comment that it feels as though they ‘aren’t wearing anything on their skin at all.’
I also use a wide variety of skincare and makeup which caters for sensitive skin types and those choosing vegan, cruelty free, natural products – brands including Charlotte Tilbury, Kat Von D, Hourglass, Weleda, Tarte and many more.
This is something I really need to be in control of at all times when I am freelancing and why I have invested in Glamcor Lighting in my kit. With variable white daylight settings and colour temperature adjustability, my lighting setup allows me to inspect my work on all skin tones under all lighting conditions. So if you happen to have chosen a 12th century castle with barely there natural light – you can relax – my Glamcor will guide us to the most flawless makeup application with perfect colour matching.
My kit is full to bursting with so many products that I love. But I do have a few product must haves and I thought these would be good to start with.
